about us » the cross subsidy principle
In 1996, with donations and support getting increasingly hard to get by, the board took an exception to the heavy deficits the hospital was running into.

One of the most important decisions taken at this juncture was to adopt the 'cross subsidy model'.

To provide for operational needs and underwrite the free provisions made to the underprivileged, the hospital decided to enter the arena of commercial services.

Within five years, the institution became a domain leader in North India. The reason SCEH was lapped up by the masses was that its transparency, no-frills quality and sincerity towards community are also at the core of all human civilization.

With constant support from patrons and friends, SCEH continues to provide about 60% of its services free of cost to those who can't access it.
